ROWDE PARISH COUNCIL The Parish Council as it is known today was set up following The Local Government Act 1894. Prior to 1894 there was a Parish Vestry responsible for matters both civil and ecclesiastical. From 1894 civil matters transferred to the Parish Council with ecclesiastical matters remaining the Vestry until 1922 when Parochial Church Councils were established. Rowde Parish Council consists of 11 members elected every 4 years. The Council meets every month, usually on the third Wednesday at 1930hrs. Meetings are either in the Village Hall or at the Junior School. Copies of meeting minutes and details of the next meeting can be found in the Village Magazine. The first 10 minutes of the meeting are set aside for questions from the general public. An Annual General Meeting is held in May every year. Also held is a Annual Village Meeting when the activities of the “action groups” are reported. [2009 AGM Minutes] The annual budget for 2008/09 is £15,000.
