Recent Events
Over the last year, there has been a lot of work going on in church to improve the facilities, adding a toilet and small kitchen, which will make it easier to host events in the church. We have regular coffee mornings, which provide an opportunity to look around the beautiful and historic building. We also serve refreshments after many of the more informal services.
Music is an important part of the worship at St Matthews. For most services there is a mixture of traditional and more modern hymns. Once a month there is an Evensong service, where in addition to hymns, psalms are sung. For Family Services, on the first Sunday of each month, the hymns used are simpler and easy for children to join in with. On the fifth Sunday of the month we have just introduced a Songs of Praise service, the aim of which is to feature hymns which people particularly enjoy singing.
The main aim of the choir is to give a lead to the singing in church, and encourage the congregation to join in. However, we usually sing the communion hymn on our own; and often perform an anthem for special occasions. As well as singing for regular services we are often asked to sing at weddings, which we always enjoy.

We are a friendly bunch, and have regular social activities, usually involving food!
Choir practice takes place in the church from 7pm until 8pm on Thursdays in term time. Anyone who is interested in singing with us should ring the choir leader, Nicola Brown on 01380 722406.
Additional services are held for religious festivals such as Easter and Christmas, and a service is always held for Remembrance Day.
For Baptisms, Confirmation, Marriages or Funerals please contact Jonathan.
Organisation
St Matthew's Church is part of the Benefice of Bromham and Rowde, so we share our Rector, Jonathan Hiscox, with the churches in Bromham and Sandy Lane. The Benefice is part of the Diocese of Salisbury in the Church of England. St Matthew's is an Anglican church, but welcomes people of all denominations, or none.
The Venerable John Wraw, Rural Dean, blessing the new Kitchen and Toilet facilities.
