CARE Wiltshire

CARE is a national charity that provides tailored support services to enable people with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible, at the heart of society. We offer a choice of where and how people wish to live and an increasingly wide range of daytime activities, both vocational training and therapy. Our accredited courses can also lead on to supported work and open employment for some of our clients.

Residential Services
CARE Wiltshire provides a range of housing in Rowde, Calne and Devizes which includes registered accommodation, group and independent living options.

Our main site at Rowde is situated two miles from the county town of Devizes, on a regular bus route. We also have accommodation on residential estates in Calne and Devizes in the form of group homes and supported living flats, which are supported from our main Rowde hub.

As with all of our accommodation options, our professional staff teams offer 24 hour support with waking night staff available, if required. We welcome enquiries for any of our services, particularly from people with Individualised Budgets who would like to discuss how we can assist them to live successfully in the community.

Day Services
Our range of meaningful daytime activities at our Rowde centre offer people the opportunity to try new skills, develop their own creativity and, through vocational and accredited training, can lead on to real employment.

We have a range of workshops where our clients and staff teams work together to provide a range of items and services.

Catering and Produce
Our teams have achieved an enviable reputation locally for the quality of their jams, chutneys, biscuits and celebration cakes, which are sold through local outlets and farmers’ markets and from our workshops here at Furlong Close. We are famous for the speciality cakes that we produce to order for special occasions that boast the most beautiful sugar craft designs.

Creative Arts
Our Craft workshop makes rugs and other hand produced, quality items for local shops and fairs, and frequently make bespoke items to order.

Horticulture
Our Horticulture team grows vegetables and plants for sale during the growing season, as well as works on a number of external gardening contracts for outside agencies and individuals. In addition, they also undertake a number of recycling projects, working in conjunction with the local Waste Recycling Centre. We are proud to host the first Community Composting Centre in Wiltshire!

We aim to provide everyone with as much choice as possible, while all of our activities are individually tailored through Person Centred Planning to take into account the specific capabilities of each person. This can range from therapeutic activities for those less able, to vocational and accredited training for many wishing to pursue supported or real work placements.

There is a Job Coach on site at Rowde, who offers encouragement and support to people seeking work experience and employment. We also provide ASDAN accredited qualification courses in a range of different subjects. This offers opportunities for community participation and social inclusion, whilst participants learn about the practical things they need to do to live successfully as part of their community.

We shall be running our Summer School again this year during August. A range of activity sessions for those who are looking for options during the college holidays.
